Bill has taken up fly fishing (strictly catch-and-release). He wanted to share his love of the sport with the rest of us so we drove up to the Provo River to learn how to fly fish.
Walking to the perfect location. These tracks are no longer used . . . I think
The day was great for fishing. A little warm, perfect for standing in the river.
Most of the group in the river, getting ready to cast
The children loved casting and learning how to fish. Even if they had to stand in the water. Then . . . just as we were leaving, Brianna picked up the can of bug spray and squirted it right in her eye. Fun over.
I don't have any photos of the rest of the evening, we were too busy holding her down, flushing her eye with water. It was horrible. She kept saying "It burns!"
Luckily, we have a friend who is an optometrist. We called him and got sage advice (thanks, Rob). After about 30 min. of screaming, we decided to go home. She was happy for the 40 drive and the next day, her eyes showed no sign of trauma.
Just before the unfortunate incident
Next time we go fishing (and there will be a next time), we will spray for bugs as soon as we arrive and leave the bug spray safely locked in the car.

Hi Cheryl,
It was great to hear from you. Your family looks as happy as ever. We hope you are well. You know Colorado is close to Utah .. come visit - we have plenty of room. We still tell funny Bill stories,
the Chatwins
Ouch. Isn't it great to have those friends you can call at all hours of the night and day.
Glad there are no lasting effects, but sorry to hear your fly fishing trip ended so badly!
When is Bill bringing you to Ireland?!
